I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy and the Civilization Studies Program at the American University of Beirut (Lebanon). I received my Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Higher Institute of Philosophy at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) in December 2010. I previously studied Mathematics and Physics at the University of Evansville and continue to be deeply interested in the content, history and philosophy of these disciplines.
My dissertation won the Silvestro Marcucci International Dissertation Award (5000 Euros), co-financed by the Accademia Lucchese di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, 2009-2010 and judged by Bernd Dörflinger (Trier), Mario Caimi (Buenos Aires), Alfredo Ferrarin (Pisa), Luca Fonnesu (Pavia), and Claudio La Rocca (Genova). My current research focuses on Kant's moral and pre-critical philosophy and on pre-Kantian German philosophy. Along with various translating and editing projects, I am writing a book that examines Kant's intellectual development against the backdrop of the confrontation between teleology, science and religion in early modern thought.
